I called up state farm to get car insurance on my el camino, and they want to inspect my car before they give me insurance. I have to have insurance before I can get a title and tag. How am I supposed to drive it down to the insurance place to get the insurance if I don’t have insurance or a tag in the first place?

I was under the impression that my 2003 car had ABS (anti lock braking system) because my car dealer told me so, I bought it used. Accordingly during the online application for my car insurance I said that my car has an ABS System. Pretty soon after that I discovered that my car does not have such a system. I would like to inform my insurance because I do not want to have problems in case there is an accident. But will they cancel my insurance if I tell them the truth?

I have my driver licence almost eight months ago in NH. Now I moved to Mas and I pay about $ 210 per month for car insurance. I want to know if I can find cheaper or this not too bad for a new driver. I own a 2000 ford Taurus since two months. What do you think guys?

I am purchasing a new car and for the first time car insurance. I’ve been shopping around online and Progressive Direct has the best rates for me. I also looked at getting Progressive through an insurance group in my area, which would cost $30 more per month for the same amount of coverage. Would it be worth the extra $30 per month to get the insurance through an insurance agency in my area?

Do car insurance companies offer discounts on car insurance to those enlisted in the military. I’m going to be going off to the air force soon and I’ve decided i’m definately not taking my car. If I happen not to sell it either and just leave it at home, how do car insurance companies help with that? Do they give discounts to those away on military duty?

I had my brother listed as a driver on my insurance policy and he is moving so will no longer be using my car. The insurance company is requiring that I show proof of insurance before removing him from the policy. They are telling me there is no other way to remove him from the policy due to a DUI charge. Is it even possible to get car insurance without a car? What should I do?

Have had a perfect driving record for 20 years, last week on my way to work, hit black ice, and car overturned in the ditch - car was a total loss. Do you think my rates will rise? No injuries or property damage, just a totalled car from the crash. Have been with the same insurance company with no previous claims the past 10+ years.

Although each car is different from the other there is one aspect which is common to all - the need for car insurance. Irrespective of its make, model and price, every car owner needs to get their car insured to protect it from the various perils that it is exposed to in its day-to-day usage. However, it is important to look at the different benefits and risk coverage offered by the insurance company before getting the car insured. Usually, the insurance provider that offers a whole lot of benefits at low premium rates is deemed to be the best.

In Australia, there are some car insurance companies that provide flexible, convenient and affordable car insurance. These car insurers offer multiple insurance benefits and cover the automobile against damage/loss of the car, damage caused to other vehicles or damage caused to other people or their property by the use of the insured car. The best part is that you get all these benefits at a very low cost premium! The premium amount of the car is variable, and depends upon some factors such as:

- The make, model and price of the automobile

- The driving history and age of the people driving the car

- Any optional factory extra accessories that are fitted in the car

- The policy holder’s residential address

- The finance arrangement of the car

Depending upon these factors, the car’s premium value is calculated.

Most of us never realise the importance of a car insurance policy until we have to make an insurance claim. This can also be when we realise that we have been literally taken for a ride! Since most of us overlook all that is written between the fine lines of the car insurance policy papers, we are never able to fully comprehend the risks we are covered against. The best way to avoid this is to go for comprehensive online car insurance. This would ensure that you get a low cost car insurance policy that covers your automobile against most of the risks and hazards.

Some Australian car insurance companies offer low cost car insurance and also facilitate an easy claim process. They provide low cost car insurance with high risk coverage against accidental and malicious damage, fire or theft for the insured car and physical injury of the car owner. Apart from this, the online car insurance offered by them also covers collision, physical and property damage for third parties. This ensures that your car is covered against all the possible problems that you can face.

I have heard that accidents and tickets will affect car insurance rates for five years. I was in an accident four years ago, that was determined to be my fault. Now, my (old) insurance company just settled this claim. Is this going to affect my rates for five years from the settlement date or from the date of the accident?

When I bought my new car, I knew that I needed cheap car insurance. However, when I was searching out for a good car insurance policy, I realized that it is not as easy as it seemed. There are so many auto insurance companies around that I can get my policy from, and I don’t know which one is the best for me. This is the reason why I thought of using the internet to find the right auto insurance policy for my vehicle.

It is better to look for cheap automobile insurance policy on the internet as there are many online companies that offer rebates on auto policies that are sold online. The added advantage of using the internet to find the right car insurance policy for yourself is that you don’t have to waste time visiting and phoning individual car insurance companies for information and quotes about their insurance policies.

Of course, if you are busy, you can always hire a broker to do all the work for you and help you find the right car insurance policy. However, the broker has to be paid for his services. Therefore, by using the internet, you can actually save money and time, and get as many car insurance quotes as possible from car insurance companies.

With the use of the internet, it is possible for you to get numerous car insurance quotes while sitting in the comfort of your own home. By filling up an online insurance quote form with some personal information about you and your car, like your age, gender, and the model and type of car, you will receive your cheap car insurance quote within a very short time.

Fitting an approved immobilizer in your car is a great way to get yourself a cheap car insurance policy. Generally, if you don’t use your car much, you will be offered a cheap policy. This is the reason why you have to mention the number of miles you drive per year when you fill out a form for an insurance quote. Car users are offered cheap car insurance policies for decreased usage because the possibility of them getting involved in accidents is much reduced if they don’t drive so often.

Paying an expensive deductible is another way for you to find a cheap car insurance policy. By paying a higher deductible, you will end up paying cheaper monthly installments for your car insurance policy.

If you get yourself a standard auto policy, you are provided coverage if your family and you meet with an accident. However, you will have to get additional coverage if you have other people in the family who are using the car. This is why you have to include youthful operator’s coverage in your policy. With this coverage, the other driver who drives the car is provided protection if he or she is involved in an accident.

However, this does not mean that you have to add everyone who drives your car to the insurance policy. Instead, you have to restrict the number of drivers in the policy if you want to get a cheap car insurance policy. Most importantly, you have to reduce the number of drivers aged below 25 in the policy. You will also get a cheap car insurance policy if you drive a car with a small engine.

However, in a bid to get yourself a cheap car insurance policy, you should not forget that you need to have all the necessary coverage in your policy. The perfect car insurance policy is one that offers you medical payments coverage, collision coverage actual cash value, auto coverage, physical damage coverage and injury coverage. You need to have all these types of coverage in your insurance policy so that all the bills that come from the accident will be paid by your car insurance company.

With all these done, I managed to find an affordable car insurance policy that also provides coverage for damage and covered auto protection. And with this, I need not tell anyone anymore that I need cheap car insurance for my car. I use this site to get cheap auto insurance quote

My wife and I just had an accident in a parking lot in which we backed into another car that had almost completely backed out already. No one was hurt, but the damage caused by our car is between $1,000 and $1,500. We will not have the damage to our car repaired. This accident is our fault; however, both of us have had a completely perfect driving record up until now. We just want to know how much this accident is going to make our insurance go up.

The insurance company paid me for the damages to my car and then I sued the person that did the damage. Is the insurance comany entitled to the money I was awarded in court, even though they did not participate in the court proceedings? In fact, I gave the insurance company information on the case and they did nothing to reclaim the money on their own.

My BF and I were injured. The medical people are refusing to bill the insurance company responsible. They wanted me to pay up front and get rembursed later or have some other insurance cover it. I used my work health insurance, but I will have to go after the Car insurance company to pay the bill. How do I do that?

It should be against the law since everyone must carry car insurance. Also, what does my low credit score got to with my great driving record? Sounds like another reason to raise rates because most credit scores are low across the board. If someone pays their insurance company on time and has a good driving record should be their only concerns. Doesn’t that make sense to raise car insurance rates to persons that had a hard time paying a bill, bit made all their car insurance payments on time.

My older brother recently bought a brand new car, and just two days ago the insurance he purchased from the dealership’s insurance company expired. He has liability insurance underneath a separate insurance company, but that has not expired. We were stopped for something minor the other day, and the police officer noticed my brother’s insurance was expired. What kind of fine will he face?

The reason we compare car insurance quotes from multiple car insurance companies is to make sure we‘re getting the best rates possible. Of course nobody wants to pay more money than they have to, but in the other hand we also want to make sure that our car insurance company is going to respond quickly and fairly in case of an accident.

What is unknown to many is that there is not one single car insurance company that is cheaper than others. One particular car insurance company can be the cheapest for one person but the most expensive for another. Each car insurance company has a certain category of drivers they want to insure. If you fit their category they will offer you a cheap rate, if you don’t, they will offer you an expensive rate. That is their way of filtering the people they want and do not want to insure. That is the reason we need to compare insurance rates from multiple car insurance companies, to find out which company will offer us the cheapest rate. The key is to find the company that offers the cheapest rate for you, but of course, it is important to compare rates from quality companies only.

There are many quality car insurance companies out there; however, some of those quality companies also have a high price to go along with them. How do we find a quality company for a cheap price? That, my friend, is the key question.

The traditional method of shopping for car insurance is to call around which we all know can be a long process. Another drawback of shopping for car insurance by phone is the probability of getting caught with the old “bait and hook” trick. That is when someone gives you a low quote by phone and hikes it up on you when you go into their office to purchase the car insurance policy.

In today’s world, luckily, we have the internet. The internet makes life a lot easier for all of us. Using the internet, we can shop for many types of things we may need which include shopping for car insurance.

Shopping for car insurance online is the best way to compare rates from multiple car insurance companies. Online, you can also read about a company’s history and make sure they’re a quality company. Most companies offer instant online car insurance quotes thorough their websites which makes obtaining car insurance quotes a lot easier than the traditional method of shopping by phone. Better yet, there are some websites that offer online car insurance quotes from multiple companies with one simple process. You can even purchase your car insurance online if you like the price. One such website is OnlineAutoInsurance.com. There, you can obtain quotes from quality companies such as Progressive, AIG, Infinity, GMAC, Bristol West, and several more. All with one simple process!

My boyfriend has a car that is in his name, and he is fully insured through the car. But, I need to drive it every once in a while and I don’t want to be screwed if I get in an accident. Will his insurance cover me while I drive his car, if he gives me permission to, or do I need to get non-owner’s insurance to cover my ass? If so, what is the best company I can go to, or is non-owner’s car insurance called something else?

What is the best way for me to get my money back (deductible and rental car costs) from someone who caused the accident, but who’s insurance turns out to not be valid? She is insured with Geico, however when I called them - they said it is likely that there is something wrong with her policy and they will probably not cover the cost of the accident. I’m guessing she didnt pay her monthly bill, or something similar which caused them to void her coverage. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to recover my expenses for the accident she caused?

I am currently a 24 year old male and I think my car insurance company is not giving me the best deal. Who do you get insurance from, how much do you pay and if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you and what car you drive. Also what factors determine how much my insurance payments will be?

Direct Car Insurance Made Easy

Filed Under Car Insurance FAQ | Comments Off

Direct Car Insurance is the option of buying your car insurance directly from an authorized insurance company instead of going through insurance middlemen and independent agents.

To explain let us take this example. If you are sick with pain in your joints, there are two options you can choose from. You either go to a general practitioner and he would recommend certain medicines that would ease your pain. Or, you proceed directly to an orthopedic specialist, one who specializes in illnesses related to the bones of the human body. Chances are that the bone specialist would be able to diagnose the exact nature of your ailment and prescribe maybe some medicines or exercises that will at once have better effect on your condition. The general practitioner would probably have an idea about your actual condition but may not be in a position to accurately treat it.

Something similar happens when you choose a direct car insurance policy over an indirect car insurance policy.

One may argue that it is far easier to get quotes and information on car insurance policies from multiple indirect sources, as there are plenty in the car insurance market. It may also be a better idea as these indirect car insurers offer a wide variety of services in order to keep their car insurance policies better than the rest.

This is however not without its associated costs. Remember middlemen and independent agents and such indirect car insurers are in a business and not providing you the service out of charity. They obviously are looking for their profits. While on the look of it you may be offered multiple services at some good prices, you must never forget that you are paying a higher rate for the same. The independent car insurance agents are putting in their profits into the quote. The larger these independent car insurance companies are, the higher the hidden costs.

The direct car insurance agencies, on the other hand have their benefits. If you go at first to a direct car insurance company, you will directly be in touch with the car insurance provider itself. These direct car insurance providers are usually large companies which have in house services like emergency pick up vehicles, tie ups with official car service centers, legal advisors and such important services. What happens here is that these direct car insurance providers may not have to outsource their services to other car insurance agencies? Even if they do, they have clear and set procedures that are outlined. This removes the reasons for inordinate delays in providing emergency car services, settling claims and providing interim relief through rent a car services etc.

When you buy a policy from a direct car insurance agency you also save on costs. You can get cheaper car insurance with some very good facilities. Remember it is not the amount of services that you can get but whether those services can be used when you need them.

You may even be able to work out cheaper premiums for flexible periodic payments as well when you go to direct car insurance agencies. And to top it off you may even get some free extra covers along with your standard cover as well. These come in handy and end up saving you some money at a later stage. For example you may get free extended territorial cover or the direct car insurance agency may offer extended legal liability to family members. These would be specific to the district of residence of course.

There are some direct car insurance agencies that also offer you a better premium if you insure more than one car with them. This really gets you a good reduction in your associated costs and it always helps if there is just one direct car insurance agency that has to be co-coordinated with at all times.

There are quite a few car insurance companies which provide direct car insurance and you may need to shop around a little before you actually make your decision. This will also give you adequate knowledge about what the direct car insurance agencies are offering in the car insurance market. So remember, going in for direct car insurance is in the larger picture more beneficial to your pocket!

I had an accident one month ago. Somebody hit the car behind me and got away, and pushed that car into my car. I have damages for $3600. Now the insurance company of the person who hit my car is not responsible for my damages. Is there anything I can do?

I own a 2003 Toyota Corolla CE. My car insurance is moderately expensive, and I’ve been told that installing an alarm system would help lower my insurance. But I don’t want a cheap alarm that can be easily set off by someone’s sound system.

Haven’t had a claim in over ten years
Haven’t gotten a ticket in probably 5 years.

But, the neighbor kid did $2K worth of damage to my car with his bike in three separate incidents. Basically, half of it will have to be repainted!

I’d really, really rather not go to court. His insurance is NOT an option in this case. He doesn’t have $2,000 laying around.

IF I go the much easier route of getting him to pay at least my deductible, how likely is State Farm to raise my rates with a, after deductible, claim of about $1500 or so?

Any relevant advice/comment is appreciated.
Killing the kid DID cross my mind for just the briefest of moments, but then I realized that might be overreacting just a tad! lol
Forgot to mention that I did file a police report AND the stepdad admitted his kid ( 4 years old!) most likely did it.

Again, just wondering if my rates will go up if I go the easy way and file a claim?
Insurance doesn’t apply due to it being on rental property.

With gas prices being the way they have people all over the country have started to get creative with their finances and the costs associated with auto travel.

Prices vary from company to company, so it pays to shop around. Get at least four to five price quotes. You will find that there are several websites out there that can save you the time from doing this the slow and hard way as they will often get you quotes from up to a dozen companies all at once. You can call companies directly or access information on the Internet. Your state insurance department may also provide comparisons of prices charged by major insurers. And no, companies like Progressive that claim they will compare other companies, but they are an insurance company, so they are not to be trusted. They only have one interest, and that is to promote their own business.

Bigger is not always better. There are several low cost automobile insurance companies offering competitive rates in relation to the big names out there. This makes it possible to save a bundle on this expense. Many people seem to ignore this cost and tend to accept the burden of expensive insurance even when monthly payments almost match a car payment. In one case, I lowered my car insurance rates by about 50% when I found a good local company (I had switched from a really big name company).

One of the best ways to get cheap car insurance is simply to use a service that forces insurance agents and brokers to compete against one another. At the end of this article is one example of such a site. As soon as you finish your online quote request, multiple agents will contact you. But it is important to NOT sign up with any one of them immediately-Instead, let them know that you are awaiting calls from other local insurance providers. After 5 or so of these people have contacted you, you should have a good idea of what sort of range you might expect to pay.

Then, if you really want to get the cheapest car insurance possible, simply tell the agents that you are ready to buy within the next 24 hours with whichever company offers you the lowest insurance rates. This really puts the fire under them, and is sure to create the most optimal pricing for you. Of course, be sure to carry through on your promise.

If it makes sense, you may want to consider getting a bundle package. Basically, see what it might cost to insure not only your car, but also your home, property, health and life insurance. This can save a person around 10% - 30% depending on the company you go with; and it does make paying your bills easier as well.

Oh, and one more tip, remember that the more info you provide upfront, the more accurate your quotes will be, and the more likely the insurance companies will be responsive to your inquiry. This is especially true when filling out a quote from multiple companies.

ring your insurance premiums to adding a teen driver to your policy, buying car insurance can be a confusing, overwhelming, and expensive process. However, it is a necessary part of life, and can save you a lot of stress and money in the future. It may seem like a daunting task, but there is an easier way to shop for car insurance quotes and rates. Before shopping for car insurance, read these frequently asked questions to ensure you get the best possible car insurance rate.

Q: Am I required to have car insurance?

A: Almost every state requires that you carry liability car insurance, which pays when you do damage to others. States that require liability car insurance each set minimum limits that you must have; even in states that don’t require car insurance, you must show proof of financial responsibility, meaning evidence that you can pay for any damage you cause.

Buying collision and comprehensive car insurance, and other optional coverage to protect yourself financially, is your own choice.

Q: Do I need to buy car insurance before I buy a new car?

A: If this is your first car and you don’t already have car insurance, you’ll need it before you drive the car off the lot. In addition, if you’re financing the vehicle, your lender will likely require you to have insurance at the time of the purchase.

If you have car insurance and you’re replacing your car, you generally have 14 to 30 days to notify your car insurance company of the purchase. Your car insurance rate will then be adjusted based on the new vehicle model. Make sure you inform your car insurance company about the new car within the appropriate window, or you could be driving without coverage.

If you’re adding a new car, rules vary by car insurance company. For example, some car insurers provide automatic coverage for the additional car, but you must still notify them within 30 days, while other car insurers provide no automatic coverage for additional cars.

Q: How can I lower my car insurance rates?

A: First, comparison shop for car insurance quotes to make sure you’re not overpaying. Then, always make sure you are getting all the discounts to which you’re entitled.

When you’re shopping for a new car, you can ask your insurer how much your car insurance rates will go up or down based on the vehicles you’re considering. For example, vehicles with high theft rates will cost more to insure.

There are other ways to reduce car insurance rates, although you’ll increase your potential financial risk. For example, you can increase your deductibles if you can pay more out-of-pocket in the event of an accident. And on older cars you might consider dropping collision or comprehensive coverage if repair costs will likely exceed the value of the car.

It’s generally not a good idea to save money by reducing your liability limits to your state minimums - that opens you up to substantial financial risk.

Q: How can I lower my car insurance rates for my teen driver?

A: First, don’t rush out to add your child to your policy when he/she is just starting to learn; you may be able to wait until he has his permanent license, which buys you some time before you start paying car insurance premiums on your teenager.

Second, find out if there are discounts your teen may be able to get, such as a “good grades” discount.

Third, consider buying an older, low-profile car for your teen to drive that will be less expensive to insure.

Most importantly, your teen driver needs to keep a clean record and follow any “graduated licensing” laws in your state; a teen with an accident record is an expensive proposition, no matter how much you comparison shop for a car insurance quote.

Shopping for car insurance can be much easier for you with the advice and tips above. Car insurance companies provide you with a very valuable service, but that doesn’t mean you should have to pay top dollar. Comparing car insurance rates can be time-consuming, but it will save you a lot of money in the future.

If you are a newbie in insurance policies, it is best to be educated on the subject. There are many myths and realities in dealing with insurance companies. It is necessary for you to have a general idea about such insurance rates so that you won’t have problems later on.

Car insurance is needed by people who want to be assured that their cars won’t experience distress, especially when the time comes and they get into an accident or anything else. There are things in this world that you have to be aware and to prepare for. This is why it is vital to assess and choose the most affordable and most reasonable price for your car insurance.

Hence, it is true that the insurance quotes reflect the cost of certain automobile- related expenses. In fact, there are many explanations on how the increasing cost of such insurances is accumulated.

Each year millions of people get into car accidents that involve personal injury. With this type of incidents, the typical price range of such treatment is around $6,000 to $9,000. Thus, this can easily turn into tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the type of car.

This problem is actually joined by the trouble of increasing claims of automobile injury, which are currently as much as 30 % in some states. These dilemmas can turn into the new car insurance holder’s burden of additional payments or premiums.

Moreover, another reason for this is the legal expenses that the company needs to pay due to the fact that an average jury award for vehicular liability cases are continuing to rise and can put up the pressure on auto insurance rates.

An average liability can cost from about $187,000 up to $269,000. This was the estimated record from the year 1994 up to the year 2000, respectively. Thus, the number one cause of death for people ages 1 up to 34 is car accident.

According to the United States Department of Transportation, these deaths cost more than $150 billion annually. People who are under the use of prohibited drugs, alcohol abuse, high- speed driving and are not using a seat belt are the leading people who are at risk of such an accident. Auto repair has also increased because of the rapid advancing age of technology, along with construction and design that have now become a must in this era. Automotive innovations and repair costs have increased tremendously and thus, higher car insurance may ensue because of this.

Hence, there is a notion that red cars cost more insurance. This is not true. Colour is never a determinant factor in calculating one’s car insurance rate. The factors that are important are the year, model, body, type, engine size and the age of the car. Even if you have a cheap car but you have a large engine, or it is an unusual model, it might cost a lot to have it insured as compared to a more expensive small car.

Then again, you will pay for a lesser amount in comprehensive coverage, which can cover the damage that is usually brought about by vandalism, hail, fire or even animal accidents. There is also a case, in which, two speeding tickets can make your car insurance rate go up.

Plus, it is also not true that every car insurance company can charge anyone on any way they please. Despite the increasing expenses of this company, they still have a way of covering all the damages and they also have regulators that review their customer rates.

It is also important to take note of the amount of your car, where in, it’s insurance will most likely have a relative cost to. This is due to the fact that some companies shoulders only a minimum amount and will not cover certain accidents. Of course, this will result into a lawsuit but they will not include all the damages. So, it is wiser to read your terms and conditions.

Thus, if someone drives your car and there is an accident, you will still be the one held responsible. You will be financially responsible for the accident. In most states, the car insurance that covers the accident is considered the primary insurance holder, which means that the insurance company is the one that should pay for the damages. Hence, there are cases that it is not enough and the driver’s insurance is the next in line to pay for the remaining damages. This is primarily why you need to know the car insurance policy in your state, as well as the laws that go hand in hand with it. States and even countries differ in policies politically and geographically.

Aside from this, there are also other factors that are being considered for car insurance rates. Of course, your rate won’t be the same as that of your neighbours. Your age, nature of your work, driving record, type of vehicle and marital status are all considered. This can really vary depending on the company’s standards. Sometimes, your charge can go down when you turn 25 because this is the time when car accidents go down. The extremes of ages, like that of a teenager and that of the forty year old individual is where the accident rate is at its highest.

Lastly, there is a so called rental reimbursement that can cover and pay for your rental car. This is for cases, wherein, you are on vacation and you just rented a car that resulted into an accident. This will help drivers pay for the damages to the car but this still depends on the limits you selected. Having more than one insurance policy is not really money- saving technique. In fact, it is more expensive. Most of the time, you can save your money by getting the best rate available in one company. Thus, if you want different types of insurance like that of the auto and homeowners insurance, you can look for another company that can give you the best deal. At times, you will get better deals from different insurance companies.

Car insurance is a way of preparing yourself for some stressful moments while driving your car. Getting one doesn’t mean that you are already assuming that you will encou7nter car theft or car accidents. Getting car insurance is a lot like accepting the reality that these things happen and that it is best to be prepared. This is better than not having a car insurance at all and end up paying more, just because you decided is best not to have one. Since car insurances these days have death or disability insurance for the driver or owner of the car, it is a lot like caring for your family and loved ones by leaving them with nothing to worry about.

Since there are many car insurance agencies these days, it is best to assess each one and check which has been in the industry for a long time. You can also check with friends for referrals. This is actually the best thing to do as compared to believing in advertisements and flyers.

Hello, I am a 23 yr old female, and have never had my own car insurance policy. My car is paid off, but still in my mom’s name, with my name on there as well. I have been trying to get my own policy, since she is going to sign the car over to me, but I can’t find anything reasonable. I’m paying 65 dollars a month for the policy to be in her name, and I need to stick to that price range. Any suggestions?
